Well I'm in a good mood today. I had a hard time getting up this morning. I was tired. My dreams were not pleasant last night. Oh well.
I got up, showered and went with wet hair to Salon 38 for a haircut. Which in my whole life, haircut can mean anything from 5 inches, 1/2 an inch (also called a trim), or going from blond to brunette. Today was a trim. Julie told me she cut 1/2-3/4 of an inch off. And I asked her what she thought about my hair and the ease and possibility of going from the black hair to my natural hair color. Which is a light to medium golden brown. Gracie's hair is the spitting image of mine when I was 11. I can estimate from her age, my age and what the color of the hair that's grown above the black is, that my hair color is about 2-3 shades darker than hers. Anyway, Julie's verdict on my hair was that I need a double-process color, the first being that the black be stripped from my hair. Which is not only scary but not something your hair approves of. Julie said my hair could handle it. Step two is depositing the lighter brown color back into my hair. Step three, I'd have to get another 1/2 inch cut off because getting rid of the damaged ends from the dye would be necessary. So the total cost that I'm looking at is $80-$100. Which is 10 weeks of allowance if I forget about anything fun and things like shampoo and lotion. And she gets a tip of course. Sigh. I'm not sure how I'm going to get the money. The good thing about it taking awhile to save up is that by the time I get the money, I'll be needing another trim anyway so that 1/2 to be cut off won't hurt my hair and the fact I'm trying to grow it out. And I'm doing good. Growing it out is a good reason to go back to my natural hair color. And when I think about it, that $100 is actually an investment because I wouldn't be spending $7 every 4-6ish weeks to dye it. Plus my Aunt Bonnie told me that a term for hair that has never been colored is called "virgin hair". I kinda want virgin hair. This is a very long post about hair. Oh well.
