I'm not trying to be just another normal girl, in a messed up world. I'm living for Christ, not afraid to fight for what's right. While I'm waiting, I will serve You, while I'm waiting, I will worship, while I'm waiting, I will not faint, I'll be running the race, even while I wait. I will move ahead bold and confidant, taking every step in obedience, while I'm waiting.

Halloween.

I don't celebrate it. I don't like it. I don't usually explain to people why or what it means to be usually because I don't know how. But I wanted to write about it.

I'm a Christian. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He was and is pure and innocent of all sin and that He came to earth as a human baby and lived and was crucified on a cross for my sins so that I might live in heaven.

I believe the Halloween is, well, evil. The devil's holiday. Satan. Lucifer. The fallen angel. Halloween is his day and not many people know that. Many people don't know that there is anything behind the costumes, parades and candy.

This is not a pure and holy holiday. Do you see people egging houses on Easter and Christmas? No. Because those are Godly, pure holidays. Halloween is Satan's holiday and he uses his evil influences over people in abundance on it.

What I know (and I want to find out more) is that many people did not believe in God and they did not honor His Son. They honored and worshiped and bowed down before statues made of wood or stone. They worshipped the sun and the stars. I sing praises to Jesus, they sing praises to those earthly things.

God's first commandment in the ten commandments is that we shall have no other gods other than Him. He is the only God we are supposed to have. And these people went out of there way to spurn Him and blatantly show that they worshipped other things.

In many parts of the world, Halloween is a religious holiday. Not many people know that. In those parts of the world, people worship Satan and honor evil. Why do you think so many bad things happen on Halloween? All over the globe, people are praying to Satan for people to fall into wrongdoings.

Way back then (and mind you, this was MANY many, years ago), these people also believe that the spirits of the dead could control the living. They thought the souls of wicked people who had died returned on Halloween to hurt or terrify the living. Now isn't this just sounding better and better?
They wanted the evil spirits to be happy so they would put out sweets and treats for them. They wanted them to stay away and to not trick them.

That's where the trick-or-treat part of the fun commercialized Halloween comes in. Funny isn't it to find out that's actually meant in an entirely different way?

There was a group of farmers in Ireland, called Celts and they asked everyone in their village to bring food to a big old town party. Sounds good so far. Then they gave the food to the evil spirits by burning in a big bonfire. They even burned animals to feed the spirits.

Many villagers wore costumes to the bonfire. They were made of animal skins and bones. Some wore animal heads.

That's where the costumes of nowadays came from.

What about pumpkins? Pumpkins are innocent right? No, sadly they aren't.

There was a man named Jack. And after he died people believed he walked around the earth carrying a lantern. People would hollow out pumpkins or turnips and put candles in them. Then they set the pumpkins and turnips outside their front yards to frighten away the evil spirits who might think Jack was there. That's why they are called Jack-o-lanterns.

Halloween centers around evil. Costumes such as witches, ghosts, goblins, and many more are all evil creatures, enemies of God.

This part always upset me. Halloween is evil, but why do so many Christians as individuals, schools and churches go trick-or-treating, have parties, march in parades? Isn't that hypocritical? In my mind, yes it is and it is blasphemy to the name of my Lord.

Hundreds of years ago the rulers of Rome passed a law that EVERYONE had to accept Christianity. I'm sure that went over well. What a way to get people to people to think the Jesus was a good idea. They had to accept Christianity as the new state religion. So many people became Christians not out of choice, but by force. In my mind this is why so many people are brought up in a religion they really know nothing about or that they know all about but either way it really doesn't matter to them. Its just the way it is for them.
So when Rome put this law into play, instead of people giving up their evil beliefs and actions, worshipping of other gods, they added them to Christianity. Halloween is one example of this.
When the Roman rules tried to stop Halloween parties (and yes, they did try), the people became angry. They didn't see anything wrong with mixing their false wicked beliefs with the worship of Jesus.
So the Romans moved a Christian holiday, All Saints Day to November 1st and gave October 31st to Halloween, which means Holy Evening. Satan must love that name. Then they told the people to pray for the dead on Halloween, instead of praying to other gods.

Halloween has always been a religious holiday. So October 31st might be called Holy Evening but that changes nothing about that day and what goes on.

Halloween is not a holy day or evening for me. I want to wrap myself in Jesus' love and protection because on Halloween the dark evilness swarms the earth and it knows no boundaries. The name of Jesus stops Satan in his tracks and he actually cowers in fear and turns and RUNS away. I won't give him the slightest crack into my life. Jesus is my God, Jesus is my Strength, Jesus is Life and Breath to me.

I grew up being asked "what are you for Halloween", "what are you doing for Halloween", many questions. Sometimes I was teased and ridiculed which wasn't easy. But I was brought up with the firm knowledge of the devil and knowing that Halloween was his day signed and sealed the matter for me. I can't tell you how many times I said "We don't celebrate Halloween because we are Christians,", "My mom won't let us dress up or go trick-or-treating."

I want to be able to share why, no matter how dramatic and ridiculous people might think it sounds.
Because I believe that Halloween is evil.
