I'm not trying to be just another normal girl, in a messed up world. I'm living for Christ, not afraid to fight for what's right. While I'm waiting, I will serve You, while I'm waiting, I will worship, while I'm waiting, I will not faint, I'll be running the race, even while I wait. I will move ahead bold and confidant, taking every step in obedience, while I'm waiting.

I was just sitting at the counter eating cinnamon raisen toast and looking over the newspaper when I realized I haven't written about the world in awhile. Thus, after four much needed pieces of toast I am going to write about what is going on in the world.

  • The candidates for Ted Kennedy's senate seat. This has been a hot-button issue in my nearby community. Now, I don't live in Massachusetts but my heart does have a part of it there still from when I did. Although, if Martha Coakley is elected to the senate I may very well wash my hands of that blue state forever. That woman is a witch! I'm positive. I am supporting Scott Brown, the Republican candidate. If I was choosing between the four Democratic candidates that were all running a week ago for the Democrat slot, I would have picked Celtics' owner Stephen Pagliuca. He was the only one who seemed willing to allowe a health-reform bill pass even if it meant that federal-funding for abortion had to be cut out. The other three Democratic candidates (Martha Coakley, Michael Capuano, and Alan Khazei) adamantely refused to allow a bill to pass without funding for abortion. I approve of this one thing that Edward Kennedy did in his whole career and that was his ability to compromise. He would be willing to allow something to pass because he knew it was better in the long run make a concession when it was for a better reason. He knew it was smarter to concede in some ways than to fight until the end and possibly cause both sides to lose. Steve Pagliuca was the ONLY Democrat who seemed to share his feeling. The other three more than once, said dreadful things to him, even going so far as to say that he must want women to have to have back-alley abortions again. I read that and I was fuming. Then during that same debate:
When Pagliuca suggested women's rights are compromised already by denying them access to affordable health care, Coakley said: "Steve, it's personal for me. And it's personal for every woman who's in this, who's watching this." (The Lowell Sun, "Senate Candidates Clash on Abortion", by Matt Murphy, 12/02/2009.
Well I just about blew a blood vessel. I was furious with Martha. Personal! PERSONAL?! That woman has a lot of nerve. At any rate, I can't stand her or her politics and where she stands on anything. If I lived in Mass and could vote, sure thing, Scott Brown would get my vote. I can only hope that on election day, January 19th, 2010, that voters choose Scott Brown.
  • Also, in January 2010, the bill that New Hampshire Governer John Lynch passed on July 31st, 2009, that bans drivers in NH from driving and texting, will take effect. January 1st, New Year's Day (!) is a day I am looking forward to immensely. There is ONE reason I'm a little bit glad that I haven't seen Mia in so long. And that is because as much as it will (eventually) suck to have to say this, I will have to tell her that I won't be a passenger in a car that she is driving if she drives and texts when I am in it. I hate that I'd have to do it, but she does text and drive and I won't put myself into that situation when I know full well that it is a dangerous one.
Alright I'm all set for now. I found an article about driving and texting that I want to share. That will be posted next.
